although different programs have different levels....the one I listed above I think may be wrong because hubby and I don't make the amount it shows for a family of 5 but we could not get reduced lunches.

That's abysmally low income.

Gross income and that seems low to me.  I know we couldn't make it on that.

In my state a family of four making under $40,000 is low income but that doesn't necessarily mean the qualify for welfare.

hmmmmmmm hubby and I do not make the amount in family of 5.....I guess we are classified as what is called the working poor.  We make it but it is a struggle but do not qualify for any kind of assistance etc.

My neighbor may be able to watch them for me sometime end of this week maybe next. she has some finals to do so she said she will get back to me in a day or so. ( I dont want to inconvience her and told her to do her college stuff first)

SoCal? Then go to the walfare office and apply for childcare assistance! SoCal is a whole other monster, when it comes to cost of living. You will qualify for every welfare benefit, other than cash aid. Go already!

Thats what its looking like. We are in southern cali and its not cheap here LOL

I think head start can make their own income guidlines,a nd I would assume it goes by the average income of the area.

Quoting NavyWifey122305:

The reason I am asking...

Is because Im trying to get my son into head start. And every place that has head start for low income familys are saying we make too much and will have to pay full price instead of reduced/free head start. Appearntly low income to them is a family of 4 making UNDER $22,000.

Im frustrated..... and NO I DONT WANT EVERYTHING FOR FREE. I just want my child to be in school if we have to pay we have to pay but I would like to not have to sell everything in our home in order to pay for him to go.

Not here. Well, not to me, honestly. If you can make 14,500 a year here then you can live comfortably as a four person family.
