Those whose husbands work on Christmas..........

For those whose husbands work on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas day, how do you guys do Christmas? Do you do it on a different day? Wait til they get home? What about other family and opening presents with them?

My hubby is a CO and is gone from 4am to 2pm. Someone has to be at the prison 24/7 and this is the 2nd yr he will be once again working these holidays (he hasn't had a single holiday off ever since working there, it sucks!) and I really hate that we don't get to do Christmas morning like everyone else. So I was just wondering what others do when their husbands have to work on Christmas day/morning.

My DH works 3rd shift at a casino. He gets to pick which days he wants off the most between Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is his first pick because we get together with family on that night. Thanksgiving is his second pick, and Christmas Day is his 3rd pick because the day is basically over with when he goes in anyway. I make a big dinner before he goes to work that day and we just celebrate here.

Well, since my husband is deployed we just go ahead and have Christmas. He's always been off when he's home. Now I'm divorced from my kids bio dad and that complicates things. We do the trade off for Christmas at 9 pm on Christmas eve so if I have them for Christmas eve, like this year, we celebrate the morning for Christmas eve. If I have them Christmas day, we celebrate on Christmas day.

my husband is military & there's a very good chance he will have to work that weekend from 6a-6pm  :(  i'm hoping he doesn't but regardless i only have my daughter for the first part of the day so she's going to open up her presents that morning.  i'm still going to make a great big meal for us so him & i can still try to make the most of it when he comes home.

Hubby works nights (7pm-7am) for our county's 911 center.

He's NEVER had a Christmas Eve or Christmas night off.

He goes to bed immediately upon arriving at home the morning of Christmas Eve.  He'll get more sleep, he'll need it!

He goes to work Christmas Eve, comes home Christmas day.  The girls open gifts, he puts stuff together, plays with them, etc.  He finally goes to bed around noon.

I don't make a huge Christmas dinner.  I just cook whatever we have.  He wakes, showers, eats dinner real quick and heads to work.

I'm fortunately off both Christmas and Christmas eve this year, it just fell that way on my schedule but my husband does work Christmas day. We're going to open presents Christmas Eve because I've promised to take my son to my ex's house Christmas morning.

My husbands wife works holidays :D    I work the nightshift....we alternate....one year we work xmas eve, the next xmas day.    If I work xmas eve, I come home in the morn, and we do gifts....I take a nap, and we go to my parents later.    If I work xmas day, we pretty much do the same...xmas morn with gifts....and to my parents later.   I sneak a nap in somewhere along the line.

depending on what shift he gets if he is working over nights the we will do it early in the morning he will go to bed after as for family me n the kids would go over for lunch/dinner since they do it about 2 r 3 n hubs will meet us there before work. If he is working days we will do it when he gets home xmas eve aand if he has to work a flex shift we will probably just get a bit early and do it then
