Ok my 14yo has been very irresponible here the last couple weeks and when I ask her to do things she "forgets" or just simply does not do them. I have to literally had to be up her butt to make her do her chores. Well this morning I had some clothes in the wash to include my uniform that I needed to have thrown in the dryer so it was ready for work.  My oldest just had knee surgery Monday and had a dr appt at 7:30 this morning because she was in so much pain still. Anyway, my 14 doesn't leave for the bus untill 8:30. The washer had 10 mins left on it and I asked her to please put the stuff in the dryer when the wash goes off so I have dry clothes for work. Well, I get home from DD's appt and only had like 20 mins until I had to leave for work and guess what the clothes were still in the washer. UGH So I threw my clothes in the dryer for like 10 mins and they were still damp. So my question is how would you punish her? With all the stress of my dh being away at training and dd and her surgery my other kids have been getting away with murder, but this was the last straw. I am grumpy and was so mad this morning so   I am calm now. I was tempted to pick her up from cheer practice but then decided not to. I know I need to put my foot down, but I just don't know what to do.

Let me guess, your hope is that your daughter would care (even an inkling) about someone or something other than herself?  Well, good luck with that one!  LOL   Unfortunately, you can't make someone else care about you or your needs or her family's needs, she will have to learn life's lesson of compassion on her own at her own time.  In the mean time, the only thing I can say is... your not alone.

if you have multiple children that i take it you do...make a chart that they all have to check off their daily chores so that they are held responsible for themselves and to the other kids...
