Abortion V. Murder *edit to add another question

I have wondered if anyone out there has any sort of insight into this subject.

Most ladies on here have an opinion if its murder or not murder in their own opinion and so many are so good at pulling up facts about the law so riddle me this, batman.

Why is it that if someone kills a pregnant woman it is considered a double homicide?

But if a woman aborts its is not considered a homicide at all?

It seems to me there is a slight discrepancy of what the law considers the ending of a life there, thoughts?

Edit to add*

Hypothetically, say a doctor were to perform an abortion against the will of the mother, then kill her. I really wonder what sort of charge they would receive for that, maybe just medical malpractice?

Murder doesnt always have to be performed in an inhumane/violent way to recieve a murder or manslaughter charge correct?

Abortion is a legally safe procedure. Not cold blooded murder.

Bc abortion is a medical procedure (though it IS killing, it's not murder)

the viability of the child often comes into play when they consider adding a second murder charge.  so i dont see how its so different.

i'm not entirely sure, but  i think the woman has to be past the 20 week mark before they can press for a double homicide charge.

however, i think you make a valid point.  something i have wondered as well.

oh, no.  here's an answer....if there were a chrage for abortion, it wouldnt be homicide, it would be neonaticide.
