So we recently purchased our new home and this is really the first time, I can express some personal style, which I think is Spanish Mediterranean or Moroccan but I am at a loss of what to paint the living areas.

White. We're in an apartment and not allowed to paint.

I just painted my whole house a tan-beige color because we're getting ready to rent it out.  (We're moving in July.)

I would say, first it depends upon how much light you get in the room. The more light you get the darker you can go.

My house is almost Southern exposure, I have full sun in pretty much every room of the house but 2 in the back upstairs. (the boys' bathroom and my younger son's room).

My colors are pretty dark, because the super light colors the previous owners used caused a glare. (something we noticed after the rooms were painted).

BTW, it's a Benjamin Moore color called cranberry cocktail.
