I have a really BAD cold. Today makes it 3 days, and I've just now have got this awful taste in the back of my mouth. If feels as if the back of my mouth just keeps salivating and the taste is gross. I just feel like  I want to suck on a watermelon blow pop... This ever happen to anyone w/a cold?

& I know there's nurses here... so please answer as well if you know!

Thanks!

Are you sure it's a cold and not a sinus infection?  Bad taste can often be an indication of infection.

Could be strep. I get a nasty taste when I have strep.

Might have an infection.  Those do take longer and sometimes needs meds. I hope you feel better soon.

Well I just came home from a doctor visit. He said it was just a bad cold. & I was tested for strep and the flu. Both came back negative... So yea, and ofcourse I forgot to ask him what this weird taste in my mouth is.. Probably because I lost my voice and I'm too embarrassed to attempt to talk.

It could be strep....tonsillitis...or drainage from sinus infection.Do you see any white spots at the back of your throat or on your tonsils?
