Exercise turns breast milk sour.

Is this true?.. I really want to start working out (I was a competitive gymnast and did heavy weight training and run 5K twice a week so when I say work out I mean business! Lol) I have the insanity workouts because I heard lots of great stuff about it.. But I'm only 3 months into breastfeeding. I want to continue until my son is 6 months, so.. How much exercise does it actually take to turn it sour? I know that after enough it will.. the lactic acid will spoil it that's why I'm sitting around getting fat and stiff. :(

I think it only does it if your doing excessive excersise when you never did it before. Check out kellymom.com I was told to keep my exercise to minimum but I didn't do hard core work outs before

I've heard that occasionally, but I don't know that it's true. It can change the taste, but it doesn't make it "spoil" My son didn't like to nurse after I was active in any way, but then I started just rinsing off my nipples, or wiping them with a wet cloth and he nursed fine. I think it's more about the sweat on the outside than the milk inside your breasts rotting.

I've never heard that. I worked out and everything was fine.

It can increase the lactic acid in breastmilk, which can cause pumped milk to sour faster. However, if you scald the milk before freezing it stops that process. Breastmilk is just fine straight from the tap ;)
