My husband has a lump on his head. It is pretty firm and at times oozes pus that smells like death. Our local doctor looked at it and said he had no clue what it was, but that he would
be happy to cut it off to send for biopsy. So, we ran as fast as we could. The kicker is that his brother had a very similiar lump that was cancerous (he has kidney cancer that has spread through his body). I am going to make an appointment tommorow, but would a
dermatologist be appropriate? I want to het him seen by someone who specializes in this area. Thank you for any advice.

Well call the local doctor and ask who is appropriate. I wouldn't have run.

My dad gets these cysts on his head that he had to get surgically removed just a little bit ago. I forget what they actually were. But I do believe he saw a dermatologist to get them looked at and biopsied.

You could ask a dermatologist. At the very least make an appt. with your doctor for testing to be done.

Sounds like a cyst. But yes I'd certainly get it checked out. A dermatologist should be able to help.

Oh i ran... He cut my brother in laws and since it was cancerous spread cells, plus he got a staph infection as well. Our local dr is for emergencies only... He was suspended for inappropriate conduct and just came back.

Would a cyst have a head? This has no head and can randomly burst, usually at the most inconvenient times!

Well that makes more sense. Yah try the dermatologist. GL.

I couldn't understand why you ran either, until I read this, but why do you still go to him at all? I hope it's nothing but a cyst or abscess. Some abscesses do have that nasty smell.

No, they typically don't. If it did I'd think more along a staff infection.

Our family drs and specialists are 2 hours away, so for
ear infections and other routine stiff we just go to
him.
