Here's the situation. Your Pre-k and kindergartener and starting school for the first time this year. you have heard great things about the school and way the run things. they recommend the children riding the school bus for growth and learning development. they think its really good for the kids. You are a little worried about it since your child is so young and its the first time for them to go to school but when you ask they tell you... All the pre-k and kindergarten students all sit in the first front rows of seats, all together right behing the bus driver and separated from the rest of the students. A parent must be present to get the child on the bus and off the bus or they will not pick up or drop off. when the students get to the school and large group of teachers are right there as the doors open to get the young students off who are let go first. then they are escorted to their class. at the end of the day the teacher walks the students to their bus for them to get on.

So my question is... would you let you child ride the bus?

i would and i do. my son is 4 and has been riding the bus for about a year now. hes in a special classroom for delayed children and i have to say the bus is one of the best things that happened to him. he cried the first few times and now he cant wait to get on that bus and go to school! he loves it. it really helped him grow and his seperation anxiety dissapeared and it was easier for me and him during the time where he has to go to school. theres no screaming or crying anymore.

My pre-K children didn't go to a school with busses. I had to drive them to "pre-school".

You could try it and see how it goes. Sometimes it helps if they know someone on the bus they can sit with.

My question..how old are the other students on the bus they're being separated from??

Ultimately you know your child best and know if they're ready at the start of school to be riding the bus. Pre-K, is what 4 years old? The whole school day should be socialization.

Yes, I had to ride the bus at that age and the school was 1/2 hour away without stops. It sounds like a really good school and I wouldn't be too worried.

I don't have a problem with my kids riding a bus but in pre k or kinder its just not going to happen. I do not trust people at all not even kids.

That is what my son is doing right now. His bus picks him up in front of our house and the parent has to be present to pick them up or drop them off. they have an attendent to help them into their seatbets and the teachers walk them from the bus to class and vice versa. He loves riding the bus
