So, my dh has worked in the oil field all his life. He is a skilled welder and diesel mechanic amoung other things. After the birth of our last son, we have four, we made the decision to look for something a little more stable with benefits. My dad has worked at this trucking company for 20 something years. He was able to get dh a job interview with the shop manager. 'D', when interviewing dh, told the job description and stated that the job pays $17.80 per hour with safety bonuses weekly more than $18. Also mentioned within 6 months, he will be making well over $20. Dh gladly accepted the job. He started on Monday of last week and while being trained by this Guy, the Guy mentioned that he started out at 10$ per hour. My dh got skeptical and went to ask 'D' about. 'D' proceeded to tell him that he was starting out at 10$ per hour and within 6 months will top out at 17$! Dh was angry but, can't quit or walk out. Really? Why can't things just go right?

They probably don't want to pay him too much in case he doesn't work out. But the interviewer was misleading.

thats shitty. things can always be worse though, atleast he has a job.

will he get pay raises throughout the 6 month period? or after 6 months, the pay jumps right to $17.00? if he will get pay increases over time, then thats not so bad, i think.
