Hell has officially frozen over, and I think they want their kid back
Tonight I experienced a very strange phenomenon that I can't explain. Usually my 2 year old is the kind that when he gets tired he gathers the energy of the universe together inside his tiny little 25 pound body and releases it all at once, in a mass of screaming bouncing take me to toon town levels of hyper activity. Usually I will wait until he starts to wind down before I drag him to his room and wrestle him into bed where he will protest rather loudly until what's left of his energy fizzles out and he goes to sleep. Bedtime is usually 8pm but our bedtime routine starts at 7 right after dinner. So he has an hour to wind down before lights out. Well today being the immeasurably exhausting day it was I didn't have the energy for our routine so I rinsed him off, threw a clean diaper and jammies on and plopped him on the couch next to daddy and went to my room to take a breather. Ten maybe fifteen minutes later I gather myself together so that I can wrestle him into bed only to go in the living room and see he's not there. Hubby hasn't moved from his game so I asked him where DS was. He looked confused and said "I thought you brought him to the room with you." UH OH. I panicked and was certain he had either snuck out onto the patio or into somewhere he shouldn't be and Lord only knows what he's gotten into by now! You all know the missing kid alarms that go off in our heads when we misplace them for even a split second. Yeah those were sounding like it was the end of the world. I dashed around the house checking everywhere and couldn't find him. I saw his bedroom door was open so I flipped the light on and LO AND BEHOLD there is my terror tucked into his bed fast asleep with Mr. Lint (his pet kitty cat) curled up in bed with him. I asked hubby if he put him there and he said no and I know for certain I didn't do it either. I'm in complete shock that he actually made a concious decision to put himself to bed and did it without us even realizing it! I don't even know what to call this except a (very early or very late) christmas miracle.
Either that or I need to contact hell and find out if it has officially frozen over.

Oh man I really hope so. Especially after the night we had last night. He was up ever hour or so until 4:30am because his little brother wanted to do the scream at the top of my lungs thing and wake everyone in the house because he didn't want to go to sleep

my dd did that when she was 2ish!!!! that's wen she started asking to be put to bed!!! maybe he's gonna phase into an easier bedtime regime :)

Awww! Thats so cute! My DS does that sometimes, but he still wants mom to put him to bed for the most part.

My roomates' 9 month old has started crawling towards the room and to their bed (they co-sleep) when she gets tired. The cutest was when she crawled into the room to get her blanket!
