You want to hire a nanny...

but do not want to pay taxes or do a 1099. What documents would you request of the candidate? (ID, DL, etc. ?)

If you were going to be hired under the same conditions (no taxes, no 1099) would you give the parents a copy (for them to keep) of your SS card? Do you consider the parent needs to keep a copy of the SS card?

Not my situation. I do not babysit anyone nor I need a nanny but someone I know is a nanny and she asked me this due to a potential "employer" requesting copies to keep of ALL her documents.

Why would they need that info unless they were intending to pay taxes for employing her as well as her paying taxes from each check.  Is she a formally trained nanny or just a very experienced babysitter working a more full time nanny position?
