here is the scenario:


You are driving home, it's 2am, you get pulled over for speeding. The cop says your license was suspended for not paying child support for the past 3 months. After the cop gives you your ticket, he keeps your License.


Can they do that? Just keep your license? This is in California.  I'm finding out how fast they were speeding now.

my friends ex was arrested in ks for having a suspended license due to non payment of child support.

 Your license can get suspended I believe if you're 'x' amount in arrears.

Why in the heck would they keep it? Don't they realize you need it for identity purposes (check writing, etc)?

Yes they can and they can have your car towed. An if they say you can go they can then turn around and pull you over again and get you for driving with out a license
