Helicopter Parenting

My DH is super protective of our 4 yr old DD. He doesn't like her to go to the pool or the park because there are too many people. He doesn't want her to ride her scooter or trike on the sidewalk because it's too close to the road! We live in a neighborhood not beside a highway.

Ugh. I usually do these things with her but I want us to do these things as a family. How can I get him to relax a little?

Have you talked to him about WHY he has all these fears?

LMAO.

Lol worked for my parents! They went from gently handing over a baby over the bed to tossing my sister back and forth while cooking dinner.

My parenting beliefs.

We should feed them stuff.

They should go to the Dr.

They should poo in the potty.

That is all.

Tell him to lighten up! Duct tape him to a chair and make him watch and see how safe she is. Lol

Does he have any specific reasons why he is so nervous about "so many people"?

He gets nervous because there have been abductions and attempted abductions in the city.  We live in a suburb outside the city.

I'd LOVE to have another one but he's not ready.  I'm not going to push that one with an accidentally on purpose pregnancy.

When I do push it and insist he come with us he is so nervous no one has fun.  He wants to constantly hold on to her, even at a splash pad or something.  He doesn't like me putting the sprinkler in the side yard because someone might "watch her."

He is from the Caribbean where crime is much higher, but I grew up in the country where I had free reign over acres of land.  It is the biggest problem we have in our parenting!
