About 8 months ago my uncles cleaning lady quit with no notice so my uncle (who knows I love to clean lol) asked me if I wanted the job. Its a lawyer office building, takes me about 2 hours and I go once a week. Well I really love doing it. For such easy work I get a couple hundred bucks of spending money each month. I've been thinking about branching out and getting a couple more places to clean! How should I go about doing this? How should I figure out how much to charge? At my uncles they supply all the cleaning supplies and he offered me what he paid the cleaning lady so I just went with that. I don't mind supplying my own stuff at other places (which I'm sure I'd have to) but I wouldn't know how to charge accordingly. Also, are homes harder to do then offices? I've heard they are because people get picky with how their own home looks which I understand, so maybe I should just stick to offices?
If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it!
One of my Good friends has a cleaning business...
Some people are particular about which cleaning supplies are used, so they supply their own... She also goes to Sam's Club and buys cleaning supplies... She uses a Orec Vacuum for her business, not her own personal one.. Who would want other people's dirt, grime and germs in their Vac?? She charges $40 and hour, and makes some pretty decent money... If they pay you in cash, even better.. I wouldn't worry about people being picky with your cleaning job.. If you're a decent cleaner, then no worries... She tells me... "I have the miondset of - My name is behind this, ..If this were ME paying someone to clean, it better be GOOD. Don;t skimp, cut corners, and get a Steam Cleaner!!
If I were you i would just stick to offices. My friend and I clean aprtments after people move out of them and we get paid $10 an hour with all the stuff supplied.I have no idea how much to charge for houses.
When I was in college, I cleaned my boss's house (figure 1997) & was paid $10/hr. They supplied all the cleaning products & I didn't have to do the kitchen.
A lady in town has a cleaning business. She put an ad in the paper & word of mouth has given her more businesses than she can handle.
$10 an hour sounds ok for starting off...here is a bump as well..
