I wish but I KNOW a medical transciptionist.  I personally don't think schooling is needed.  You really just need to know the terminology and how to type fast.

I did medical transcription from home.  I didn't go to school--I had another MT hire me as a sub-contractor--and she trained me.  I had previously worked as a legal transcriptionist--I was self-taught doing that.

But the usual way is to go to school--some community colleges have a one-year program.  After that, you usually have to work in a hospital or doctor's office for three or four years to get experience.  After THAT, you can work at home, usually.

I type really really fast and made about $15-20 an hour but it was hard work.

I work from home as a medical transcriptionist - I received my training through Career Step online back in 2005.  It's still a great training course.  I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks!!!
