im always surprised at moms on here saying they are shocked at their daughters or neices or whatever hitting puberty at like 10. i always think, " really?" *i* always assumed it was normal. i started FULL ON puberty at 8. period and boobs at 9. by 5th grade i was a b cup and by 7th grade i was wearing tampons. i always want to ask " did other girls not start in elementry school around you, even if you didnt?" i KNOW girls are starting younger these days, but i always thought that everyone started puberty around 9 and that the 11-16 year olds were really late bloomers. so when i here moms say " im not ready for this! i thought i had a few years!" i think, " why? i just think that we should start EXPECTING it around 8-9. and if it doesnt show until later, great, but dont get your hopes up for 11-16.....lol

LOL I followed the same trend...I suggest we have that talk with our kids as soon as it starts so they don't start running up a cable bill full of porn like I did at 9.

I always thought the norm was around 11-12.  But I do remember girls starting younger than that in grade school.  I was 12 and so were most of my friends.  My mom was 16, which was really late.

I think in some families it is normal, but it's becoming more common because of hormones and chemicals in food. My female family members are late bloomers. We don't hit puberty until early/mid teens.
