anybody have a 8 or 9 year old??? My ds has started getting REALLY smart with me. And has a Horrible attitude. In all seriousness i want to back hand him!!!!! Ugh. He acts like he is an adult. I think alot of it may be because his dad is leaving next week, but hes been getting bad for a couple months. Anybody else feel like they have a teenager and dont?

My daughter is the same way. She will be 9 years old in October.  She has had a pretty tough year and is acting out to an extent (my dad passed, her dad walked out on us, her great grandpa passed).  But I think it is also the age.  Some things have become a power struggle which is not good.  One thing I have started doing is putting her allowance (quarters) in a jar and if I get to three when I have to count she loses a quarter.  So Friday she will get whatever allowance is left.  It has worked pretty well for us.

Its limit testing with a side of hormones. This is the age I start talking to mine about respect and how if you give respect you will get respect. Its worked so far. I'm on my 3rd go round with this stuff.
