Unionizing daycare in Minnesota.....NOT GOOD!

This is really upsetting to me! I remember getting a knock on the door and two individuals pressuring me into signing something I had not a clue about. They assured me that "all in home daycare providers were signing" and that it was all about our rights, all to our benefit. And its totally backed up by In home daycare providers like me.  I refused and told them I was going to look into it. Apparently this idea of unionizing In home childcares was made to sound like a good thing to many Childcare workers but they fail to realize what they signed.

All I can think of is I would like to keep my business MY BUSINESS! I dont want the government controlling it any more than it is.That scares me!  I CANT afford union dues! I dont know many daycares that can...we have enough expenses! All this is going to do is raise daycare rates, which are already high as it is. Parents are not going to be happy!  This is really going to change alot of things if this gets passed. Is this even constitutional? UGH!

I agree. Some Congressman is trying to get it going in California too.

In home daycares?

Wow.... It seems odd that people would be able to essentially force a union into someones household.

That makes no sense to unionize private daycares.

Yep...its bull! Unions are usually set in place to protect workers from their employers. Who are we being protected from? Ourselves? Lol

This has been hush hush for a while. Wonder what your provider knows about this and what her stance is.
