I'm freaking out help

I'm borrowing my dads car I stopped to get a ticket to pick him up at the airport then I went to pull in put car in park and the car won't let me have the key and the piece of the gear shift won't stay out? WTF omg he's gonna kill me why can't I have the keys what did I do.

Maybe it's the type you need to put the emergency break on as well?

Put your foot on the break and try. Also see if there is a button or specific position the key must be in

Is your wheel turned super tight in a direction? Try jiggling the steering wheel. Or try to push in the key just before pulling out.

make sure the gear shift is all the way to the left. Like a pp said jiggle the wheel as you try and remove the key. If those two don't work, call your dad lol gl!

Try to turn the car back on then twist the key to the first click and try to pull out..... Then try second click??... I'm grasping at straws for you.

check for a key release button around the key. My husbands car has one.
