My sister doesn't like how I raise my kids. I know this and most of the time we just agree to disagree. Well we fought over my ds quit talking how about the same time I met my SO. My sister said it was because now no one paid any attention to him or talked to him. Her dd goes to speech therapy every week and I like her therapist. She came through my line at work one day(I'm a cashier) and I asked her what would make a child start to talk then suddenly stop? This professional told me that it was caused by not being talked to. Not that it could be fluid in the ears or even autism. My sister babysits sometimes and she has taken my ds with her to take her dd to see the speech teacher, so she knows my ds was starting to talk and stopped. I just found out that my ds has fluid behind his eardrums and hearing loss due to it. It has NOTHING to do with how much time is being spent with him. I am just sooooo  heated that a trained professional didn't think to mention other causes. I know from that answer that my sister has been talking to this speech teacher and her judgment has been colored by my sister!

If you are concerned about your son, you should see someone that isn't already involved in the family to get a proper diagnosis.

DO you talk to your son? I talk to my kids all day long..even my 1 yr old " mommy's doing this...now we are doing that....blah blah blah" Not saying you don't, but often when a new guy enters the picture, EVERYONE in the womans life gets ignored. even children. just sayin'

For his speech teacher I most defentnetly will. It took an ENT dr to find the fluid in the ears

OK im sorry but your post jumps around too much, so I am not sure I got the whole thing... anyways, you are saying your sister had to take her DD to speech therapy, and she took your son with her, and had the therapist evaluate him with out your consent?  Im not even sure if the therapist can properly give him a diagnoses in that manner.. I suggest you take him to a therapist that you pick out.

I talk to him all the time but he hasnt even picked up words like no. Mostly things like " lets do______." or "Come help mommy." If you try to make him say a word say for his cup, he just giggles.

I'm puzzled as to why if there was a change of this nature why the child wasn't taken in and checked out.

Why are you letting your sister take your kid anywhere if you two are not getting a long? Not bashing/  just wondering.

Use your own judgement mama. You already said it all. Your ds needs medical care. Your sister well that's a different story.

It could be bc you asked a speech therapist.
Ask an ENT and get one answer. Ask a neurologist get another answer. Ask a heart foc get another answer.
Being that it is a specialist with speech therapy that's what she assumed, or only knew what your sister told her.
