This word wasn't funny to me until about 10 years ago. We were at my husband's aunt's camp when his cousin's boyfriend started talking about how he was getting moist (I didn't hear the whole convo, just this part). I (at the time) was 19 and naive. I made a comment about it being a bit chilly so I'm not sure why he would be sweaty and moist. I thought everyone in the room was going to fall out of their chairs laughing at me.

It's a pretty funny memory so now when I hear that word, I do giggle.
