That big round thing with the spikes coming out that attaches to your hair dryer is that a diffuser? and what does it do?

Thats for dryig the hair w/o changing its shape.. if u have curls and want to keep the curls when u dry ur hair u would use that one (air flow is less so it doesnt press on the hair) but if u want ur hair straight or,  from straight to curls, u would use the other one.

My mom always told me it was for if you have sticky stuff in your hair like gell or moose or hairspray, to keep it off the dryer.

Its unruly. I have to use exppensive shampoo and conditioner and straighten it to get it to look decent. It can't decide if it wants to curl or wave. Its ridiculous.
