Intentionally having a leap-day baby, cool or cruel?
So I am pregnant with a little girl due on March 13. She will be delivered by repeat c-section, and both my previous babies have come earlier than their due dates (1 week and 3 weeks), so I'm predicting this one will, too. My OB says we can schedule our c-section anytime starting 4 weeks prior to our due date. It occurred to us that February 29, leap day, falls within that window. Me, my teenage daughter and my father all think that would be a cool birthday. My husband and my mother aren't so sure. So, I want opinions, please. Would you think it would be cool or awful if your birthday was on Feb 29, a date that only comes around every 4 years?
Also, perhaps more importantly, it occurred to me that this *might* cause complications for her down the road... such as, I once had a job that gave each employee his/her birthday off as a paid holiday, and there are some places that allow you to stay/eat/play/etc. for free on your birthday. Would she miss out on these benefits on non-leap years, or would these likely just make an exception for her and roll it over to Feb 28 or March 1? Is there anything else that I should consider that I am not thinking of?
What do you think, cool or cruel, and tell me why?
