OK so DH just started a new job at our local prison and he is filling out paperwork for the health coverage. So this is my question, we already chose United Health Care as our provider however they give 2 choices below that are as follows: 31 Definity( HRA) then the second choice is: 08 HDHP.. sooo I'm not sure which one to choose cause I'm not sure what they mean as they didn't give him a booklet explaining any of them so I'm going out on a limb here and hoping yall may know a little something about it.

Call and Ask. Do not just choose. If I'm not mistaken an HRA is for people that don't really go to the dr.

INSTEAD of asking us go to THEIR website.  Much more reliable info.  :)  BTW we used to have Untied and I WISH we still did LOVED our plan with them anyway!!

Is there a human resource department you can call and ask about specifics of the plans? Or is there the option to have both? I would be uncomfortable with just one or the other.....But I don't know very much about either one. This is what I do know.

HRA= Health Reimbursement Arrangement. Basically the employer funds the account with a certain amount of money a year to use for medical expenses. Most of the people I know have this in conjunction with a high deductible plan.

HDHP=high deductible health plan. Just like it sounds. Lower premium with a very high deductible, which is why most people have the other plan to go along with it.

i would bet you have the option to have both.

I have no idea and have done a ton of research on healthcare.. We had the choice between PPO or HMO.. I had to decide which one to pick
