Hypothetical...

Person a has a name picked out for their child to be. Person b said how they love the name and want to use it. Person b gives birth and takes that name. If you were person a would you still use that name?

Have you ever been person a? What did you do? How did person b react?

If the name meant something special, then I would keep the name.

This is assuming the name was important or you at least liked it enough.

That happened to me. My brother and his wife stole the name I had picked out for my child since I was a kid. I did not use that name. :/

Now that is messed up. It wasn't on a whim. I still would have used it though.

depends on who they are. If kid a and b will be related, I'd think about it. If not I'd keep the name I picked out!

It depends on how close the kids are going to be in age, and how often they're going to see one another. I wouldn't give my child the same name as a close cousin or a friends child who's around the same age. But if they're several years apart, or if they're not going to see one another very often, I'd use the name.

I would pick an even awesomerer name and point and laugh at the person who stole your name. Then I would say " you fool! You fell for my trick! You fell for the least awesomerer name!"

With the name for my second daughter, I knew for 8years prior I wanted that name. When I told people they all liked it. I warned them if they stole it they had better be prepared to have their kid have the same name as my future child. Lol

My sister claimed a family name once. With my second son I really wanted to use it as a middle but out of respect for her claim since we were kids, I didn't use it. She just recently got pregnant and when I asked if shed finally use the name (given the appropriate sex) she said 'no, I always thought you would, I changed my mind a while ago'.
Bummer. Lol
