My pediatrician said my five year old is "chubby"........

according to his height and weight chart. Then we stripped down to his underwear for his physical and the doctor said, "holy cow, this kid is all muscle!" I said, "yeah, he eats well and rarely stops moving. He is not chubby at all"  He agreed with me. Those charts don't make any sense. The only way to figure out accurate BMI is to use displacement. On the other hand, my 8 year old was "perfect" according to the chart and he is very thin.

I think the chart is only useful on babies. Once they get older, after the height and weight is taken, you can pretty much see whether or not they are overweight, muscular, or thin by looking at them. I know they use it as a guideline, but it isn't very accurate.

I dont think the chart is accurate these days as well for the older kids.. Your boy does NOT look chubby but, cute pic my friends son does that same thing.....

Lol love the pic lol

Sounds like my son. He's 3 months from being 6 and wears a size 7 and. Is around 50 lbs.. Chubby face (from me) but skinny and feels like picking up a sack of bricks.

I think growth charts should only really be used as a guide anyway.  We're all built differently, so there's no way that we can all fit into whatever range we're "supposed to".  Your DS doesn't look chubby to me at all.

Woah! Not at all chubby!
My son is short. He is 2 years old and 25 pounds looks like a lot on him.
