Cold Sores Question - How To Protect My Kids?

We hang out with lots of friends who have cold sores. We have many children (7), our younger ones (23 months and 3) tend to sneak drinks from others no matter how close we watch (they have stealth abilities). We also have a 5 month old that I try to hold nonstop when visiting or if they are over (which is often and can get exhausting holding and nursing him all day), but they still like to touch.

I don't know if I'm super paranoid, but how can I boost their immune system to help protect them? Is there anything else I can do if the come in contact with the herpes virus while playing with their kids? I've read so much about how it can be dangerous for babies, and we REALLY don't want our family to contract it.

IDK
I was under the assumption that everyone has been in contact with it.
It's not something I worry about, honestly.
Maybe zinc?

Our family has never had cold sores. I worry bc I know it is dangerous for babies, and I really don't want an incurable virus. However, I also don't want to end my friendship over it.

I hear lysine (sp?) helps prevent outbreaks. I wonder if it helps prevent contracting it as well?
