What age did your kids started reading?

My sd is 7 and she only reads 2-3 letter words without help. If I remember correctly, I started reading at 5.

My dd is 7 and reads chapter books. She is in second grade & started reading in kindergarten

I think I was 4/5...I could read in kindergarten and was in advanced reading in 1st grade..my son is 2.5 so he's too young yet

3 & 4 the memorized words, cat, dog, the....

By 6 they were reading chapter books.

My five year old is working on it now. He is reading very basic books with a little help.

My oldest was six and in Kindergarten. He took off and was reading at a second grade level by the end of the year. My five year old is in Kindergarten and reading simple words, those beginning books.
