DH and i went to DMV to renew my registration and than we went to pick up DS from school. we live in the mountains so everything is back road. we were driving one road and there was a rottweiler sitting in the middle of the road and a small dog next to him. he would not move and when DH honked he started going nuts!! every time DH tried to get around him (he was going like a mile an hour trying not to run this thing over) the dog would get in front of the car and bark and than ran around to the door and started throwing himself on it!! what made it worse was the tiny little dog, we didn't know where it was because it kept running in front of the car and than to the side.

finally i got in the back seat and banged on the window to distract it and the dogs backed up and started barking. DH gunned it and the dog chased us for half a mile before giving up!

it wasn't foaming at the mouth or anything, just thought he owned the road. for a second i had a flash of the movie cujo in my mind. it was all woods and i didn't see a house, just a driveway entrance and there was no way DH was driving up to that house or getting out of the car.

no i didn't, but i might tomorrow. i didn't think about it. at the moment i just wanted to get out of there and go get DS.

on the way home we saw a car turn onto that road and i felt bad. we didn't get a chance to warn them

lol. i know i am usually not afraid of dogs but this one was scary! if it was just the big one i would have been fine but the little one i was terrified to run over.

i just googled the town halls number. i will be calling tomorrow morning to talk to them. we cant have been the only car this dog has done this too. i don't care if it was just a territorial thing, it was scary and I'm glad DS was not in the car

1 mom liked this

Maybe he wanted you to stop. Maybe someone was in trouble. I know, I watch too many movies. Could happen though.

i wasn't thinking about that. he was just sitting in the middle of the road and we had to stop or we would have run him over. from far away it looked like a bear (which is possible up here). he purposely sat there and waited for a car. it cant have just been a one time thing. both dogs tag teamed our car and we couldn't move because the little dog was running around and the big dog was throwing himself at the door after stopping and barking in front of the car. it just didn't seem like the type of situation where he was trying to get help. he was viciously trying to get at us.
