$15 per family - includes games and prizes, popcorn, ice cream treats, balloons, and the option to participate in a cake walk and silent auction.......also, people will have an option to print off a coupon to reduce the initial cost to $10 per family...........
So, I am in the very beginning stage of coordinating a "Family Fun Fair" for an organization I'm involved in on my college campus - "University Council on Family Relations".
This organization is for students who are majoring in Family Life Education and will be a fundraiser event for us to raise money to cover some of the expenses for students to attend national and state conferences about family topics and how students can connect families with resources in any community.
The event will have games for kids - prizes - a "cake walk" (think musical chairs meets bake sale) - a silent auction (featuring items from local small businesses - so they can market and promote their business while supporting a good cause).
I plan to promote the event to local daycare centers as well as the Boys & Girls Club - Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Children's Museum (along with personal contacts).
If you saw a flyer for an event like this, do you think you'd go?

What exactly does a "Family Life" degree entail?
Family Life Education majors learn how to work with families in a variety of settings....most of us find jobs in non-profit organizations. Our curriculum is focused on Human Development and Family & Consumer Science.
We learn how to work with families (of all types.....'nuclear-families', 'step-families', 'single-parent families', 'foster families', 'adoptive families').
We teach families about nutrition, marriage, parenting, money management, resource management, and offer programs which touch on topics such as 'discipline', 'potty-training', 'successful co-parenting', 'conflict resolution' etc.
Our goals are to provide information, support and education to families in our communities - we also serve to connect families with other resources in their communities.
