my SIL let my son get shocked!!!! (and our BIGFOOT adventure!)

We (read: DF) let my 4 year old son spend the day at my SIL's house so he could play with his cousins. I wasn't the most pleased about it, but I'm one of those overly paranoid mothers. I can't help it... it's in my genes. My children are usually in school or somewhere familiar where I KNOW exactly what's going on at all times.

Anyway, he came back without my son, and I decided to calm down for a minute and actually let him stay for a few hours and play. We called and checked in, but they don't always answer the phone. We heard from them once and everything was fine and dandy about 2 hours into his visit.

Anyway, a couple more hours pass... and we call to have him brought home. Well, they don't answer so we decide to just go get him.

We get there and my son is playing outside. No adults present. He comes running up to the car and pointing about an owie on his belly. He got very upset when we didn't understand him.

Turns out he was trying to tell us HE GOT ELECTROCUTED shocked by a FENCE ON THE STOMACH! WTF?!?! SIL said he freaked out for a minute and kept saying "Call Mom". She said she ACTED like she was calling me and told him, "Oh they're not answering!" She also said was fine about a minute later and went on playing just as he had been playing.

But still... WTF?! I am LIVID! She should have at least told us right away when it happened, let us talk to him, and have HIS PARENTS decide what's best at that point.

Anybody know anything about minor electrocutions shocks? He's been fine and nothing out of the normal, but I'm still a little concerned. Should I take him in?

He was well enough to go on a Bigfoot Adventure. We hiked in the woods and tried to look for Bigfoot ;) It's Feb 4th and almost 50 degrees! Absolutely gorgeous, sunny right now in MICHIGAN!

I am guessing it was an electrified wire?? If so, me and my cousins used to make each other get shocked by them going to the pasture in the summer with our grandpa and we all turned out fine. She shouldnt have faked calling you though.

I'm sure he is fine. I got shocked by my drier until it flipped the breaker and I survived. Usually those fences don't pack much punch.

This is exactly why I am also an over-protective mom and wont let my kids out of my sight. :/ I hope your son is okay.

Annnnnd that's perfectly fine and okay? Normal? You wouldn't want to be called if your 4 year old got zapped by an electric fence?

i was shocked by an electric fence when i was a kid and i was fine. i wouldn't have been upset if that happened to DS and my sister didn't call. i trust her completly. but every parent is different. i think you're over reacting just a bit, JMO

Electrocution is when the heart stops from the electricity ,so unless your son is dead,he did not get electrocuted.

I would not think it was that serious.
