I Hope My Husband's Ex-Wife Enjoys Our Tax Return This Year

She should be getting about $1500 from us.

Perhaps he shouldn't have claimed me as a dependent. Of course, then he would have had to *pay* $348 in federal taxes. How on earth being married to me is worth a little over $1500 is totally beyond me, but I don't write the tax laws, haha.

Anyhoo, my husband was out of work for several months in 2009 and 2010, and yes, he racked up child support arrears during that time. Hard to pay child support when you have no income, and your wife's income doesn't even cover the rent and bills. That is why the ex-wife will get our tax return.

(We just filed our taxes.)

Yes, I'm a bitter bitch (before someone thinks herself clever to point it out).

I'm in the same boat, complete with arears and unemployment and all...except the back CS is there because of the EW's fraud... And yes, I'm bitter, too.

Sorry, I have no sympathy for ya. You could have filed an injured spouse form.

I wish my DS's dad's income was on the books... I'd get any return he got. But he's a sneaky fucker and works under the table for his dad. Unless I pay a P.I. I can't prove it.

Im sure mom would have enjoyed the money more if it had been paid on time. Kids don't stop needing when either parent is out of work.

I can understand why you are upset. I've been on both sides of this. I'll probably get some.of my ex's refund ( he owes me alot) but it does bite to be the spouse and lose your refund too. But the kids still need support and bills dont stop due to one parent out of/ not working. Good luck

At least his arrears are getting paid so you won't have to worry about them for much longer.

This. I don't think you have the right to be upset that he is catching up on child support. They are his kids, and he has to support them, even if he isn't working. *shrug*
