Our newest car bit the dust yesterday

We are in the market for a "new to us" vehicle and was wondering what is an afforable one under $20,000 and under 5 yrs old that would work for our family of 5? We seriously have no trade in but can probably swing putting down $5,000. Dodge is out of the question tho. This car was an '06 Dodge Stratus and we don't want another Dodge.

I love my Ford Edge. The base model is under 20k. YOu could probaby get a 08 or 09 with like 50k miles for 18 or 19 k.

Check consumer reports.  They have the most accurate info around.  If you hve to get an  online subscription it would be worth every penny.

Find dealerships that are having major sales and rebates on 2011 vehicles. I just purchased a $28,000 Chrysler (2011) for $19,000 in Oct. I only had a little over $4,000 to put down too.

1 mom liked this

I would always reccomend for lower cost cars and vans Kia and Hyundai - best value IMO in that price range.

Higher - you can't go wrong with a Nissan.

I came out good with my ford also

I bought a 2011 Ford fusion with 11,000 miles on it.they were asking 19,995 but I got it for 14,995 with 3,000 down.if it wasn't for the price of the fusion I definitely would have gotten the edge though

I agree also make sure you go test drive them... You may narrow it down once you drive them!
