Ok...Now What? I Didn't File A Tax Return For 2010..

I didn't file a tax return for 2010 because I only worked about 2 months. I did not think I would get anything back. I made about $1,000.

Well, I did the refund calculator on H&R Block's website and it said I would get like $350 back from the EIC.

So..do I have to file it? Is there penalties for not filing? I honestly didn't know I had to file..I figured I wasn't getting anything back.

You should ask the person who does your taxes because I know technically if you make over $599 a year you are supposed to file even if you know you want get anything back.

I was just going to take it down to the IRS office and have them file it for free but I didn't know if there would be penalties or something.

Haven't you file this year already? I know you can go back as far as 3 yrs.and yes there is a penalty.

Yes but I already got my return so I don't think I can amend it. I don't want to take it to h&r block because their fees would not be worth it.

Is there anywhere I can look to see what kind of penalties there are?

Try and call, tell them the situation.I probably would wait until next filing season to do them though.

Yes, you need to file. You won't have to pay any penalties.

You can still amend it, even though you got your refund already.

You would only have a penalty if you OWED money.
