Trying to make arrangements for our Doberman while we are visiting MIL.

I had my dog vaxed last August. The vet didn't say a word about a kennel cough vax. I've owned dogs my whole life and have never heard of it! I haven't boarded a dog in years. So, I guess they've changed the vax requirements! And it is something that has to be done ten days prior to boarding. I don't have ten days! I didn't know! FUCK!!!!!

I need a dog sitter!!!!!!!! Or else I'm going to have to cram all five of us and the dog in our dodge charger for 16hrs one way!

VENT

Aaaaaah!

Blah.

It's pretty standard for boarding these days. Kennel cough is very contagious.

My vet always did it as I was dropping them off if it wasnt current, they are not boarded too often so we usually dont do it.

I use to volunteer at a animal shelter about 9 years ago and that's when I learned about kennel cough. It's nasty I guess.

Like I said, haven't boarded a dog in ages. Then, all was required were rabies and parvo. And he has those.

Nasty cough that is very very contagious. The 10 days must be the boarding facility rule. The vet clinic I used to work at would do it as they came in if they needed. Maybe try another kennel.

I've done it, but never that long. Longest was 9hrs. And yeah, the backseat riders were pretty crabby! My dog rides well. Doesn't get sick. But we have three kids and, when he paces from window to window, he sometimes steps on someone lol.

I didn't realize there was a vax for it either...our dog caught it from one of my in-laws dogs last year and now he weeses when he gets tired or hot.
