Does anyone have any experience with this? My DH has wanted to adopt my DS for the longest time but I am worried it will open a flood gate and allow his bio dad back into his life... My DS is going to be 10 and his BD hasnt seen him since he was 3. He had a court order for visitation back then but just stopped calling/coming. Any advice?

Depending on your state, their might have been enough.time passed to be considered parental abandonment... I think. I'm no lawyer. Best bet is to google adoption lawyers in your area and find one with free consultations

Im in Cali and for abandonment there needs to be an investigation as to why he left, etc. I was hoping to avoid all that. He would NEVER consent to the adoption but I don't want him to have the opportunity to come back in our lives... (and BD lives and always has lived like 5 minutes away) but I haven't seen him since then.
