I'm a nurse. I take care of a patient with an ostomy once in a blue moon. I have some questions. If your not comfortable answering them in the post please send me a PM. I'm just curious.

1.) why did you have to get an ostomy?

2.) do you have a colostomy or iliostomy?

3.) any chance it will be reversed?

4.) how did being pregnant effect your ostomy?

5.) how much do your ostomy supplies cost?

6.) how has an ostomy effected your love life?

I don't have one so no advice on all that. My grandma had one when I was a teen living with her. She had a colostomy. The wall that separates the bowels from the vagina ruptured and that was the solution. It WAS fixable but she passed before she had a chance to. I remember the supplies were pretty spendy.

It's a surgical opening and external pouch used to bypass some part your excretory system (urinary or fecal).
