Is this OVERWEIGHT to you??? WARNING!!!! no PICTURE INCLUDED
OK....so...I took my son to his 3 month neurology appointment yesterday. My son is 14 years old. He gets on the scale, and just since November, my son has gained 25 pounds.
He was 5'7 in November and is now 5'8. The doctor said he is not over weight at 156 lbs. How is that not over weight?
According to the standard weight charts he should weigh 140. Is the doctor taking into consideration that he could be going through a growth spurt? Is that why there is no concern. I'm not really that concerned. My son is as solid as a tank, just looks a little chunky in the middle and because he has a round face naturally, his face looks a little fuller than usual.
Any nutritionists that could chime in would be appreciated.
Edit: The picture in the comment that I made is 3 months ago, when he was 5'7 and 132 pounds. He is currently 5'8 and 156 lbs, 14 years old, and small boned/framed.
Please keep it clean!
Sounds fine to me
It also depends on his frame. Is he big boned, small boned? I am 5'9/10 and when I weighed 150 I was told I was slightly underweight. I have a larger frame. The smallest size I have ever worn is a 12.
I would not consider that overweight. That sounds within limits.
Body mass index charts do not account for muscle mass or weight. Is he muscular at all? With kids and teens weight charts are a bit trickier than adult ones because kids usually plump out then get taller in spurts.
can't tell without a pic. he could be big boned.
When time crashes

Also take in to consideration time of day when he was weighed. If I was to weigh myself in the morning and then again before bed I usually have a 6 pound weight difference. Same with my children.
