Leaving a child alone in a car

Last night DH and I went to Ross to get a few things for the house. As we got out of the car I noticed a child who couldn't have been older than my 6yo DD sitting in another car, alone...
He actually looked sad and scared, let me add that it was 9pm and the car was a good ways from the store.
ONE kid, is it really THAT hard to take one kid in the store with you?
When we went in I let the security lady know, kind of loud, that there was a little boy in a car all alone in the parking lot. I think the mom must have been the lady at the check out because she gave me the dirtiest look!
I don't care though, I could not believe that she left her kid in the car...alone.
So sad.

I have left my kids in the car.  Not at night and not at a store though.  But my oldest is 15.  And the others are 10 and 6.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to leave young children in the car alone.

Ya six is a little young. I know when I hit irteen I refused to go in with my mother...then again my mom also thought she was thirteen and would jack my clothes and tried to flirt wi everything that walked...so it was more of an embarrassment factor.

But I agree with you six is a little young....especially at night.

damn... I leave my kids in the car together during the day and not unless I can get a spot right in front of the door where I can see them. And I lock the doors and set the alarm and tell my son if anyone comes near the car.. Scream bloody murder. Lol. Usually in and out in a minute.

Only time I have ever left dh in the car alone was to run into the gas station to pay for gas and I NEEDED gas real bad and their pay at pump was broken and I would not have had enough to make it to another station or I would have went to another and ds was asleep...I got gas tyen drove to the spot right infront of the door and left the truck running as I ran in to pay.

Yeah, 6 is too young to be left in the car alone.

That is wrong to leave a child that age alone in the car especially that late. We might leave our kids while we run back in to the house really quick, but not at stores

I left my 4 yr old in the car while I ran in my house. I locked the door and left my front door open. I was only in the house for litterly 2 mins
