It's fixed!
*Happy dance*
I'm glad we waited for FIL's friend because we probably saved about $500 :)
Now DD can come home! :))

By the weather!

It's the coldest day of the year and my furnace just stopped out of the blue!!

My FIL is working on it but is about out of ideas.

The thermostat temp held steady in the low 60's all day but now that's it's dark the temp is dropping :(

I'm afraid if we don't call an emergency repair guy the pipes will freeze by Monday.

Ouch! Yeah I'd probably call the emergency repairman. I'd rather do that then the pipes freeze and cause more damage. Good luck!

4 moms liked this

if you're afraid of the pipes freezing let a little water run from the faucet. It doesn't have to be much, maybe a slow steady stream of drips.

DH is on his way home from work and is going to brainstorm a bit with his dad. If they can't fix it I will have to call.

My mother did that when she lived up north.  Her pipes were in an exposed crawl space under the house so she'd dripped water.  I'm not sure but I think she dripped from all the faucets.  It worked.

a couple of years ago our power got knocked out by a big ice storm.  I had to leave the bathroom faucets running and the kitchen sink running so the pipes wouldn't freeze.  It worked, they didn't freeze!

It is 21 here now. I would love for it to be in the 60s.

Trickle some water in all your faucets, it will keep the water moving in the pipes and prevent them from freezing.

In my house, lol. Now it's 58.

But it's 16 outside and getting colder.
