My son has been sitting in my room for the past hour working on the SAME math page of homework. It only has 20 questions and he has only done 13!
I am constantly having to snap him out of his little world, he just sits there staring at something or making noises with his mouth, playing with his hands, feet....anything but his homework. He does this everytime, and also does it in class, his teacher has to remind him numerous times to snap out of it and do his work.
Like right now as I am typing this, he is playing with a piece of lead that broke off his mechanical pencil.
Ughhhhh this is frustrating me so much!!!
Any ideas you moms may have to stop this behavior??
This is gonna sound weird...but coffee works great for me.
ADHD just plain sucks! My stepson is almost 16 and has it. He has to be constantly reminded to do homework, to study for a test, to hand in homework. I don't know how to make it easier. But I know how it feels.
It is not fun!

My 9 year old does the same thing. I have no advice but I do feel your pain.
I will try that, thanks :)

I wish I had some coffee lol

Hello, I know that it is frustrating. I have been there and will probably be there for the next 8 years or more. My 10 year old son has add and it is a nightmare to get him to do his homework. The scene you described goes on in my house all of the time. It makes me miserable, and my son miserable. This usually happens when he has math homework. One way that I have been able to deal with it (besides trying to learn how to be patient - which is hard) is by downloading an IPAD app that teaches him his math facts so that he can know them off the top of his head. It gives him more confidence and allows him to work faster when he is faced with larger problems. Good Luck - I KNOW IT IS HARD :) Our little men just think a little differently.
