Do you buy the whole third-hand smoke thing?

Do you really feel it's a danger? I have relatives that smoke, and it got me to thinking about when I have my baby in July and everyone will be wanting to hold her. Since I've been pregnant, I've been repulsed by the smell of smoke, and I know I'd hate to be held by someone who reeked of it. I'm referring to them ging outside, smoking, then coming back in and wanting to hold her. Would you be okay with it?

If they wash their hands and wear a jacket when they go to smOke, then take it off when they come in. Also need a breath mint. That should cover it and make it bearable.

Second hand smoke is a real thing. It's not something I think someone can choose to believe or not. I wouldn't like that at all.

Oh, haha, I should have read better. I agree with the others then. Make them wash their hands.

nope, they would not be allowed to hold the baby unless they showered and put on clean clothes

I just know that one thing that it clings to is hair, and people tend to hold babies right up to their shoulder/hair. I'm probably just being nitpicky, but I really hate cigarettes.

This is how I honestly feel, but I'd feel really rude asking someone to do that. I felt bad enough constantly telling people to wash their hands before holding my son (though I did, and I seriously think it's rude when someone DOESN't wash their hands before holding a new baby).

We washed hands (smokers and nonsmokers, DD was preemie and they said to be a lil more careful with her) before holding her even if they didn't smoke at first.
