Where do you live? 5 BEST & WORST things about your state.

I live and have always lived in Arizona...I have only been to a handful of other states and Mexico. It is a dream of mine to travel more, actually I daydream about it quite often too...anyways... I want to know where you are from and what you would say are the top 5 best and top 5 not so great things about your state or area. Plus I'm sure I have it all wrong in my head...I'm sure New Jersey isn't all fist pumpers with super tans and muscles...and Texas, well does everyone own a cowboy hat? IDK...I want to hear it from you, you live there, time to represent!

Here is mine:
Arizona
Top 5 Best
1. It is pretty much always sunny
2. It is very scenic with breathtaking sunsets and picture perfect desert scenes
3. In a handfull of hours you can be either gambling in Vegas, or surfing in San Diego, or snowboarding in Flagstaff...or hiking the Grand Canyon (or if you are me you take out your trusty camera...shoot a bunch of pics and keep your feet planted at the top..tee hee) Plus you have all the California theme parks close enough for a quick weekend get away!
4. The state to me reflects a bit of a leisure feel...there is tons of golfing, hiking, shopping, casinos, lakes to go out on, art festivals and hot air balloon rides....I don't go on those, but they set them up close to my house...that's all I really know about that...
5. No natural disasters! Don't know what my pants would look like if I ever saw a tornado....

Top 5 not so great
1. Yes it is always sunny...so of course the summer heat can be a bit much...between June and September just plan on going from AC to AC. Meaning you leave the AC in your house to go to the AC in your car and then the AC at your work etc. and don't even think about buying a car without it....you will die, oh and metal seat belt buckles...good luck! Haha
2. The state is very spread out so it feels like you are in your car a lot, but the roads are pretty descent, no harsh winters to beat them up.
3. Unfortunately our state is pretty bad about red light running, drunk driving and identity theft.... Some people ruine it for everyone don't they.
4. we really don't have changing seasons....it's like "oh hey, my ass isn't burning like a hot pocket....must be fall??? What is Fall?
5. All the houses look exactly the same....they are all brown stucco masterpieces haha... Remember the name of your subdivision and house number otherwise you will drive around forever. Good news, if you can't find your home all the time, looks like you get to eat dinner with a different family every night...

Now you go!

Wyoming

Best 5 things

1. No state income tax

2. Friendly people almost everywhere you go

3. Lots of open space

4. Real Cowboys (my parents own a ranch)

5. Tons of outdoor activities. Camping, the lake(s), skiing, hunting, fishing...

The worst

1. WIND

2. WIND (people don't realize how windy Wyoming is)

3. Jackson Hole (tourist trap, yuck!)

4. Shopping. Sometimes it sucks not having convienent shopping or brand name stores close at all. but at least we have the internet haha!

5. Winter can seemingly last forever. We've been lucky this year though, it's been very mild.

Indiana

Best:

1. Indianapolis is an AMAZING city. We just hosted the Super Bowl and it was listed as THE BEST SB SITE EVER! Not to mention the Indy 500, the Brickyard, and NHRA Nationals every September. We are the Crossroads of America!

2. We have the Indianapolis Children's Museum which is AWESOME.

3. Because of daylight savings time we have daylight at 10 p.m. (awesome for us country folk lol)

4. My child has the ability to grow up in a town with all of his family. And when I mean all. I mean all.

5. We are also in driving distance for small one tank getaways like Louisville, Chicago, and Cincinnati.

WORST

1. The weather.

2. Mitch Daniels.

3. Our universities are very prestigious, but always rank high on the top "Party Schools" lists.

4. Our interstates are ALWAYS under construction.

5. You HAVE to vax (in our community) or you have to homeschool and no sports for you!

Oklahoma

Top 5 bad:
1) unpredictable weather! It can be 70 one day and snowing the next
2) it's hard to find a job if the need arises
3) there isn't a whole lot to do family wise
4) the ground isn't good for growing anything in most places
5) I can't think of another

Top 5 good
1) the summers
2) gas prices are relatively cheap compared to most places
3) awesome college football
4) good shopping
5) lots of nice welcoming people

I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life... It's hard to say bad things because I've never lived anywhere else to compare.

Currently living in WI but was born and raised in IL so I will do both.

Wisconsin
Pros
1. We live in the Western part of the state and the scenary is beautiful!

2. DH is from the SE corner of the state and my Dad currently lives as far SE as you can get without being in IL and in that area I love Lake MI!

3. Winter. I love snow.

4. Lots of outdoor stuff to do.

5. Each area of the state is so diverse. Door County is my favorite.

Cons
1. Driving in the Winter
2. Not really any big huge cities (I am from Chicago & Milwaukee doesn't come close)
3. Bugs in the summer time
4. Unpredictable weather
5. Lots of rural areas which means lots of underfunded school districts and social service programs (ie birth to 3).

Illinois (born and raised in Chicago Suburbs but lived 2.5 years outside St. Louis before moving back to WI last year)

1. Chicago. Need I say more?
2. Lake Michigan & the Mississippi.
3. Good Food
4. Diversity in Cultures
5. Lots of things to do and explore (museums, theaters, etc)

Cons
1. In the metro east, crime!
2. Road Construction
3. Rush Hour Traffic
4. The Mississippi is pretty gross down near St. louis
5. Suburban sprawl, cookie cutter homes, & homes all on top of eachother.

California- very diverse so it's hard to lump the whole state together but here goes:

Good:

1) Weather is great, lots of sunny days, mild winters and perfect fall and winter.

2) Everything in driving distance: Beach, snow, big city, Disneyland, mountains, lakes, rivers, vineyards, redwoods etc.

3) Ocean- I like having it nearby.

4) Low humidity, I HATE humidity.

5) Things to do.....there is plenty to keep everyone happy.

BAD:

1)Traffic....

2) SMOG in cities

3) not always friendly people

4) Expensive

5) Down economy
