Znd random acts of kindness
I go out a couple nights a week to play pool. There is an older, biker looking man named Roy who is there frequently, also. He has the typical biker look, long hair, facial hair, kind of mean looking. there has been more than one time where he has stepped in an awkward situation with a man getting too handsy, and he even walks me to my pick up sometimes. The last time I saw him, he came in and walked up to me. He said he had something for me & handed me a cue shaper that he had bought for me. Something that simple melted my heart, and it's a gift I'll treasure forever, even though it's about an inch big. It might sound weird to some of you that a tiny cue shaper could make me cry, but it showed that there are people who think of me when they aren't around me, & who think highly enough of me to get me a random gift, one they know i'll love.
I had oral surgery on Saturday. The ONLY person who called to see how I was was the bartender of that bar....on the way to his aunt's funeral.
The only person who showed up to be there for me (other than my mil because she had to drive) was a bar friend.
People think bars are such trashy places with trashy people, but my bar has a very tight knit family. All of the regulars would be there for each other in a heartbeat, if called, even though we rarely see each other outside of the bar. They are the first and most times ONLY ones in town to hold huge fundraisers for families when someone gets hurt or a family member dies.
So, don't judge a book by its color, and remember that a small act of kindness can really lift someone's spirits!
