Is an ice skate blade sharp enough to take off a finger.... as in you fall and someone skates over your hand, is it going to just damage your fingers or take them off??

...Sorry... I know its a weird question. SO thinks I have an irrational fear of ice skating.

All the guys in my family played hockey... I've seen some nasty injuries I won't gross you out with.  Sharp skates are very sharp.  Just be careful.  Its fun!

Hope that helps.

I'm going with, rentals are deffinitely not sharp enough to cut off a finger. As lon as you are careful, you're fine.

I dont think it could take them off, just would probably hurt really bad.  One time I did fall and my face landed on the back of the ice skate of the person in front of me...which cut my chin open and split my lip...and recently my 6 year old niece broke her leg ice skating.

I dont like ice skating either, its dangerous!

a recreational sharpening will typically just cut the person but a good sharpening can definately take off a finger.
