My son's lip is quivering because of the meanie heads at school.
The kids in his class had a school project to make trains that were models of the "Orphan Trains" that were to be put on display.
My son created a steam engine using all materials we had on hand at home. He did it himself and he was very proud. He couldn't wait to get to school and show it off.
So, why does my son come home and start crying when I ask him how the trains were today?
Well, because all of the kids had extravagant trains from parts and supplies bought from Home Depot. Their parents probably made them while the kids watched.
I told my son that his train was better because he used his imagination and did it himself. I said, "You were proud of it, right? You used your imagination and you know you did a great job. Who cares what those other kids think? They are probably upset because they had to sit and watch theirs get made and didn't get to help."
He stopped crying, but I could still tell his is very upset.
I will put some pics of his steam engine in the replies. He even ended up putting some tissue sticking out of it to look like steam. I thought he did a great job.
His train looks great. I can sympathize with you about the other parents doing projects for their kids. I will admit to helping my son too much when he had to dress up a turkey like his favorite character. He has fine motor skill issues and can't really work a pair of scissors well, so I did all of the cutting for him. I felt bad until I saw what some of the craftier parents did for their kids.
I posted a pic. So, it is a bunch of duct tape on boxes, a dixie cup, a toilet paper roll and a bottle cap...lol. He still did it himself and he was very creative going around the house looking for things.

I want to see pics! The thing he needs to understand is the only opinion that matters is the teachers because she's giving the grade. My guess is he/she is looking for creativity.
Great train!!!!! Did he get a grade on it, yet?!?! I wonder how his grade will compare to the super trains in the teacher's eyes. It looks like an A+ to me!
