appropriate or no for a teen?

Ok. Opinions about this. I couldn't believe the day would come that I would back up my MIL but it happened. My 12 yr old SIL received pajamas from a boy. Yes. A boy. for valentines day. Nothing skanky, but in my opinion inappropriate. She was arguing with her mom and dad about it, and she looked to me for support. I flat out told her that I would be making my daughter give them back to the boy if it were her with a polite thank you but no thank you. She about passed out that I wasn't on her side. I think that a stuffed animal, maybe a flower, or a book, or even a scarf would be ok, but pajamas. . . not so much. Your thoughts?

ETA: The pajama's are short shorts and a spaghetti strap on the tight side shirt

weird but I don't see anything wrong with it if they were not skanky. It wouldn't be any different than her BFF giving her a pair of jammies for her b-day IMO
