That is all ... Srry had to get that off my chest
Maybe I am a bit of a prude but I don't understand why. We live in this country and gain certain benefits for that, taxes pay for our defense, our benefits, wellfare, financial aide and numerous other social programs we all contribute in some way shape or form, some more than others. Sometimes we overpay and get reimbursed, other times we underpay and are charged and sometimes we break even. I don't think the IRS should be blamed for performing it's duty. I have had penalties and had to pay them back and never once complained because the simple fact is I owed it, I have also received refunds because I earned it. If they haven't given you what you want it is because you didn't earn it, that isn't the IRS' fault. If they are taking too long to get you what you earned then so be it, the whole country is in finacial trouble, I am happy it's coming even if it does take an extra week or two.
Yeah they sent my 4 year old some hate mail about the fact that she didn't do taxes in 2010. When she was 2-3...So....I had her call them.
They were not amused.
She said "why you have me letter about Texas?"
The man said "Excuse me? Texas??"
"Yes, I didn't pay my Texas so mommy said I call you."
Hahahahahaha! The conversation went on... But that was the funniest part...It was glorious.
However the IRS does have dipshits that really don't know how to do their job.

Oh I know, they suck majorly! I understand that we have to pay for services etc, but wow, I missed paying them $23 and they tacked on almost $500 in penalities and interest! What the hell!???
I don't know what the error is but generally if the IRS has you listed as self employed it is because someone supplied the information that you are, they rely on tax documents to update their records, employers, tax professionals and individual tax filers are responsible for supplying that information, they don't enter it themselves so if they have it on file they got it somewhere I would start with whoever prepared your taxes. I had a similiar problem when I was younger, my tax preparer put part of my income in as per diem and I had to pay taxes on it because they said I claimed expenses twice - it took a while to fix it and ultimately it was my tax preparer that screwed up, I refiled the taxes for that year and had my money refunded.

You have a very good point. But I dislike them cause they screw up my taxes every year and tax me for self employment when I'm not self employed! And it completely jacks up the amount I owe. It takes YeARS to fix! >:(
