Question: Has a sewer grate, manhole cover or other drainage cover ever been stolen in your neighborhood?

Not here. It's usually road signs being stolen, paint balled, mudded, or paper wadded. Or spray painted.
Nope, but I live on a military base, so no they don't steal stuff like that.
They steal them in a lot of cities for the scrap metal money.

I was reading an article in our paper and 24 yr old woman fell in a drainage pipe because the grate had been stolen. She was stuck there for 24 hours in the cold. I don't understand how she didn't see it, but it's kind of freaky.
The city doesn't remove the grates without replacing them right away, since it's dangerous. They said it was stolen.

Poor lady! Yeah, usually if the town/state takes them off, they put up cones and tie caution tape around them until they're finished working and put them back on.
